There’s a thread worth following here.
One-to-one writing support for exploring what you’ve lived, finding the words for it, and deciding what you want to do with them.
Maybe you’re trying to understand something for yourself, you can feel a story taking shape that you want to share, or maybe you’re somewhere in between.
You don’t need to know where the writing is going before we begin.
You don’t need to know what you’re writing yet.
Sometimes you know exactly what you want to say, but you need help getting it onto the page. Other times, all you know is that there’s something there: an experience you’re still making sense of, a question you keep returning to, a story you’ve carried for years, or a version of yourself you’re trying to understand.
We can start there.
Together, we’ll slow things down, notice what’s asking for your attention, and follow the threads that emerge. Not to force your experience into a neat narrative, but to help you hear yourself more clearly and decide what feels true to you.
And if what emerges is something you want to share, we can keep going.
No two paths look the same, but our sessions and work together might include:
Writing through a life transition, loss, recovery, caregiving experience, or other chapter that has changed you
Exploring a question, pattern, memory, or experience you want to understand differently
Finding language for something you’ve struggled to put into words
Turning personal writing into an essay, article, newsletter, Substack piece, or other public story
Beginning to shape a larger personal story or book
Figuring out what your story actually is before worrying about how to tell it
You don’t have to arrive with a project. Sometimes the work is discovering what wants to be written in the first place.
How we’ll work:
Start with the thread, not the whole story.
My approach is grounded in restorative writing, curiosity, and good questions.
Instead of trying to tackle your whole life story at once, we start with what has your attention now. We follow it. We notice what connects. We make room for the parts of you that might have different things to say about it.
From there, the work can stay completely private, or we can begin shaping what you discover into something meant for other people to read.
The story stays yours. My job is to help you listen for it, find the words, and support you in deciding where it goes next.
1:1 SUPPORT
Choose the amount of space you need.
You don’t need to know exactly where your writing is going before we begin. Choose a single session if there’s one thread you want help following, or give yourself a little more room if you know there’s something you want to stay with.
Single Session
Follow a Thread
60 minutes · $135 + HST
A standalone session for when there’s one thing you want some space to explore. Come with a question, experience, decision, piece of writing, or simply something that’s been taking up space in your head. We’ll slow it down, get curious, and follow the thread together to see what emerges.
3-Session Series
Give It Some Room
3 × 60 minutes · $375 + HST
Three sessions give us room to follow something beyond the first conversation without turning it into a big commitment. We can notice what emerges between sessions, follow new threads, and spend some time with what you’re learning about yourself or the story you’re beginning to tell.
Story Container
Shape What Emerges
Custom length + pricing
For something bigger: a personal essay, a collection of writing, a memoir or book idea, or a story you know you want to share but don’t yet know how to shape. We’ll decide together how much time the project needs rather than forcing it into a predetermined number of sessions.
Meet Your Guide
Hi, I’m Dani. I’ve been filling journals since I was ten, and writing has followed me through addiction and recovery, grief, caregiving, career changes, and rebuilding my life more than once.
I’ve also spent my career working with stories from just about every angle: as an award-winning journalist, professional writer and editor, recovery coach, book editor, and facilitator.
My 1:1 work brings those worlds together: the curiosity and questions of a journalist, the care of a coach, and the practical support of someone who knows how to help shape a story when you’re ready to share it.
I’m not here to tell you what your story means or what you should do with it. I’m here to help you follow your own threads, find the words for what’s there, and trust yourself to decide where they lead.
