Write From Here: Restorative Writing Circles

A free monthly restorative writing circle for anyone who could use a little space to hear themselves think.

Take some time to follow the thread.

Sometimes there’s something asking for our attention, but we can’t quite put our finger on what it is.

Write From Here Circles are a space to slow down, put pen to paper, and start with one thread.

We’ll gather around a handful of restorative writing prompts, write together, and get curious about whatever shows up. You might find words for something you’ve been carrying, notice a pattern, or see an old story a little differently.

The point isn’t to find the right answer. It’s to hear yourself a little more clearly.

Circles are offered online and in person throughout Almaguin, Muskoka, and surrounding communities. Check below to see where we’re gathering next.

Our next Write From Here circle will be:

Sunday, Oct. 4, 2026

10:00–11:00 a.m. ET
Online via Zoom
Free to attend

This month, we’ll loosely explore the theme of letting go, spending the hour writing together, following a handful of prompts and seeing what threads emerge.

Just bring yourself, something to write with, and a little curiosity.

Here’s how we’ll spend our time.

ARRIVE
Take a minute to land and notice what’s here.

FOLLOW THE THREAD
Write through a series of guided prompts and see what emerges.

UNTANGLE
Get curious about what you’ve written, without rushing to fix or solve it.

CARRY SOMETHING FORWARD
Leave with whatever feels worth taking with you: an insight, a question, a sentence, or a thread you want to keep following.

A few things you might be wondering.

Do I have to be a writer?
Not even a little.

Do I have to share what I write?
Nope. Your writing can stay entirely yours.

Is this therapy?
No. These are facilitated restorative writing and reflection spaces, not therapy or mental health treatment.

What does it cost?
Nothing. The monthly circles are free.

Meet Your Host

Hi, I’m Dani. I’ve been filling journals since I was ten, and writing has followed me through addiction and recovery, grief, caregiving, career changes, and rebuilding my life more than once.

I’ve also spent my career working with stories from just about every angle: as an award-winning journalist, professional writer and editor, recovery coach, book editor, and facilitator.

These circles bring those worlds together.

I’m less interested in telling you what your writing means than creating the kind of space where you can get curious, follow your own threads, and hear what you have to say.

All I ask is: Come exactly as you are.

You don’t have to be “good at writing.” You don’t need to know what you want to write about, have the right words, or turn what you write into anything when we’re done.

There will be opportunities to reflect and connect with the group, but sharing is always an invitation, never an expectation. You can pass every single time.

This is simply a place to show up as you are, put pen to paper, and see what you notice when you give yourself a little room to listen.
